The film is about life and work of an outstanding Russian scholar, author and scriptwriter Victor Shklovsky. He began as a futurist, and together with his friends Mayakovsky and Burlyuk tossed Pushkin off the ship of modernity. Like any creative person of that time he had to choose whether to accept the revolution or not. Everything in Shklovsky's life was a scandal, a challenge to traditions.
The film is aimed at tracing the brightest moments of this life tightly interlaced with the life of the 20th century. And the authors of the film could by no means neglect the love affairs described by Shklovsky's himself in his "Letters Not About Love".
