This film is about a German ship which was given to the Soviet Union as a war indemnity after the Second World War. Soon it became the flagship of the Soviet oceanology - the famous research ship called "Vityaz". The fate of "Vityaz" is inextricably intertwined with the fate of one of the leading oceanologists of our country - Gleb Udintsev.
