This is a story about hard-working and resourceful Owl, year after year faithfully fulfilling its mission, which, as it turned out, no one needs. The Owl - Head of Statistics Office for Supervision of fireflies. His Family hollow is to be demolished for the sake of the Governor-Bear: it spoils the view of the clearing.


   The Owl for the first time goes out of his usual rhythm of life and sees the sad statistics: fireflies are fewer and fewer. At the beginning of the investigation The Owl finds the source of evil - contaminated water, where larvae of fireflies have been brought up.
   Departing in night flying, the Owl finds a few bags of phosphates at the dump, which are rotted to the ground (phosphorus glows in the dark). The Owl signals of danger, and the animals prevent ecological disaster.
   So the work of the Owl, which at first has seemed to be unnecessary, helps to save the forest from harm. The Owl gets a hollow as a gift from the Bear, new Governor.


   The technology of film implementation is relining with the use of organic naturaly colored wood, earth, water. Backgrounds designed in mixed manner with utilization of collage and watercolor sketches, textured on the computer.
   The technology was dictated by the theme of human intrusion into the natural world and - as consequence - a violation of ecological balance. The problem of the film is emphasized by contrast between real and conventional computer textures.
