Mansion houses of the nobility are a very special phenomenon in Russian history. The film reconstitutes the period when these unique ensembles with marvelous landscape architecture were built. The moderators tell us about the original lifestyle of the mansion house’s residents with their troubles and entertainments which were usual for the “golden” 19th century. The film focuses on the mansion house “Otrada” which is situated near Moscow. This house belonged to the youngest of the five famous brothers Orlov – Graf Vladimir Orlov.
