This film is dedicated to the absolutely unknown page of the history of the Russian cinematography.
In 1947 the department of Lavrenty Pavlovich Beriya got the questionnaires of a number of the cinematographers from Moscow film studio of popular scientific films. Those questionnaires were necessary for admitting the comrades mentioned in them to the secret works of special state importance. It is still a secret who initiated that, whether Kurchatov or Beriya or someone else, but in the summer of 1949 the film crew set off to Semipalatinsk firing ground for shooting the film about the test of the first Soviet atomic bomb…
Out of the fifty people that were doing this grandiose creative and chronicle work, only seven are still alive. Their recollections and the film materials made by them were assumed as the basis of the film.
