In 1957, in his country house in Peredelkino, Boris Pasternak handed over the manuscript of his novel Doctor Zhivago to Italian journalist Sergio d'Angelo with the words: "This is Doctor Zhivago. Let him see the world". After that moment, the triumphant "world tour" of one of the best works of Russian literatures started. After that moment, hunting for Pasternak started in the Soviet Union. "Now you're invited to my beheading", this is what Pasternak said to Sergio d'Angelo taking farewells of him on that fatal day in Peredelkino.
Betrays of best friends having to discredit the novel in public, and advocacy of famous writers all over the world, Nobel Prize and unanimous exclusion form the Union of Writers, the signature of letters dictated on pain of death and faked telegrams, deprivation of fees and possible deprivation of citizenship...
Did the poet imagine all the consequences of his decision? What did make Pasternak take a step that would put his whole life upside down? Through documents, letters, testimonies of eyewitnesses, opinions of friends, relatives and researchers of the writer's works, reproducing the chain of events that happened half a century ago, the film tries to answer these questions. |

New CNF films are available on DVD discs!

CNF began to cooperate with the company Ardis. It implies that very soon the following films will be available in a convenient DVD-format: series of popular science films “Victims of The Two Dictatorships”, based on interviews with people that survived in the camps for prisoners of war and extermination camps in National Socialist Germany and USSR, documentaries “Pray to God for Us” about “Russian Golgotha”, "My Father GULAG”, which became the best at “Tranzyt” (Poland, 2010), won the second prize at “Radiant Angel” (Russia, 2009) and was a diploma winner at “Zolotoy Buben” (Russia,2009); series of popular science films «The Mysticism of Power” (4 episodes to 26 minutes); biographical motion pictures “VVedensky. God Might Be Around There” “Kharms. The Other Line”, “Straddling a Draggon” about remarkable Russian paleontologist I. Efremov, “Yuri Zhivago”, based on B. Pasternak world famous novel, which was nominated for the Nobel Prize, thus caused a scandal and was suppressed by Soviet government, “Man of Scandal or Letters about Love” about outstanding Russian scholar V. Shklovsky; series of popular science films “Russian Folk Crafts”, being of great demand among foreign visitors (it’s a narrative about Russian lacquer miniature, seamstresses, Rostov Finift, Zhostovo handicraft, Gzhel world-famous ceramics and Pavlovsky Posad patterned shawls).
DVD-discs release date and official distributors are so far kept in strict confidence.

CNF Films Participate in "Radiant Angel" Film Festival

1-8 November 2009 in Krasnaya Presnya Film Centre the VI International charity film festival "Radiant Angel" will be held. The festival serves as the priority project of the Complex Special-Purpose Program “Spiritual and Moral Culture of the Younger Generation in Russia (2006–2010 )”. The CNF films were selected to participate in the festival, and we are glad that the audience will see them on a big screen. Among them there are animated films “About Mykha (Bigmouse)”, “Mother’s Pictcha”, “Winged Lion”, “From Top to Tail” and “Parables of Jesus”; documentary films “True Story of Film Music: Film 5” “Yury Zhivago”, “Prophet”, “The Endurance of the Cruise is not Limited”, “Russian Revolt, Senseless and Merciless”, “My Father GULAG”, “Pray to God for Us”, “Playing House” and full-length feature film “Georg”. Our animated film “Toy Angel” (directed by Zalina Bideeva) the winner of numerous prizes will open the program of the festival.
The festival will be held under the patronage of Svetlana Medvedeva, the First Lady of the Russian Federation.

Film "Yury Zhivago" has been completed. The film is based on Boris Pasternak's novel that was nominated for the Nobel Prize and thus caused a scandal. Angry Soviet government supressed the book. Yet, the film, as we can see it from the title, is dedicated not to the novel, but to its main character and his personality. Scholars share their opinions and the director basing on their words undertakes making up a kind of jokingly photofit of Yury Zhivago.
