An hour-and-a-half full-length animated film “Star Dogs Belka and Strelka” created using computer 3D-graphics and dedicated to the flight of those dogs into the outer space will be released for distribution across the country in 2009.
”There is a proposal to make an animated film on the flight of two dogs, Belka and Strelka, into the outer space. Perhaps, we will also take part in this project”, said Anatoly Perminov, Chief of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos), during the final stage of the All-Russian Children and Youth Contest for the Best Picture “Dreams of the Outer Space”.
According to him, the animated film based on real events must be released in 2009. The animated film will be shot by the Center of National Film studio. Inna Evlannikova is the director. The characters of the animated film will speak with the voices of Evgeny Mironov, Sergey Garmash, Anna Bolshova and Elena Yakovleva.
When summing up the results of the children contest, A.Perminov awarded the winners of the contest with diplomas and souvenirs. About 5 thousand children from all over Russia submitted their works for the contest. He also said that the winning drawings will be placed on the Roskosmos web site, and the children themselves will be able to visit the Baikonur spaceport and watch the launch of a spaceship.
Among the winners within the group of children aged more than 15, there is one convicted girl serving her sentence in the penal colony of the Tyumen Region. “Apparently, the penalty gives good results at the place she is at”, noted A.Perminov.
Belka and Strelka are the dogs who were launched into the outer space on board of the Vostok prototype ship and stayed there from 19 to 20 August 1960. The dogs became the first living creatures who returned to the Earth successfully.
